CLEVELAND (TCD) -- A 43-year-old man was recently arrested after allegedly fatally hitting a victim with a beer can.
According to a news release from the U.S. Marshals Service, on Sept. 16, Michael Sheppard and the victim got into an argument near a home in the 1800 block of Garfield Road when Sheppard allegedly hit the man with the beer can, causing blunt force trauma.
The victim, whose name was not released, was reportedly found dead in his apartment after a welfare check several days later. The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force began working on the investigation shortly after, the U.S. Marshals Service said.
Prior to his arrest, Sheppard was featured in a U.S. Marshals Service news release as a Fugitive of the Week earlier this month.
On Wednesday, Dec. 21, Sheppard was arrested at a home in the 9500 block of Detroit Road.
In a statement, U.S. Marshals Pete Elliott said, "The violence perpetrated by offenders such as this will not be tolerated by our community members, or our law enforcement partners. We will work together with both to ensure that those who commit violence are removed from the community as quick as possible."
