MESQUITE, Texas (TCD) -- Four people, including a juvenile, were arrested earlier this week after the body of a 16-year-old male was found in the middle of a road.
According to a press release from the Mesquite Police Department, on Jan. 22 at approximately 7:05 p.m., officers responded to the 2800 block of Clay Mathis Road to a report of a motor vehicle incident. Police say a witness "reported seeing a male subject fall from a vehicle at the location."
Officers reportedly found the body of a 16-year-old male, later identified as Keymydre Palmer Anderson, suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Paramedics performed lifesaving measures and Anderson was transported to a local hospital via ambulance, police say. The victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Upon further investigation, police announced Monday, Feb. 28, that they believe the fatal shooting was the "result of a failed robbery attempt involving the sale/exchange of a firearm."
According to KDFW-TV, the victim appeared to have been dumped from the car, and his pants were torn from his body. Investigators reportedly searched Anderson’s phone and social media history and obtained data from various Instagram and TikTok accounts. Through the social media accounts, detectives were reportedly able to determine that at least two of the suspects conspired to rob Anderson. Anderson allegedly had $250 on him at the time he was fatally shot.
Police identified and arrested the four suspects: 19-year-old Johnathan Pyle of Dallas; 18-year-old Simon Guillen of Wilmer; 34-year-old Crystal Guillen of Wilmer; and a 15-year-old juvenile whose name was not disclosed. According to police, they were all charged with capital murder.
