Oregon girl whose remains were found in duffle bag identified; mom arrested

PORTLAND, Ore. (TCD) -- Officials have identified the girl whose remains were found in a duffle bag in the forest nearly a year ago.
According to the Oregon State Police, on Dec. 10, 2020, a person walking through the H.B. Van Duzer Scenic Corridor in Lincoln County reportedly came across the the bag. Investigators arrived on scene and determined the victim was a female between the ages of 6 1/2 and 10. She had reportedly been dead for about 30 to 60 days before she was discovered.
Investigators from the Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office reportedly tested the victim’s DNA and were able to identify her as Haley Mae Coblentz. She was born in Colorado but lived all around the Pacific Northwest with her mother and mother’s girlfriend, according to the statement. She was not reported missing and was 9 years old when she died.
Coblentz’s mother Shawna Browning, 29, and Lauren Harrison, 34, were found in Detroit on Nov. 30. Officials searched their vehicle and hotel room after obtaining a search warrant and arrested them for aggravated murder.
The women were booked into Wayne County Jail in Michigan.
