MEMPHIS, Tenn. (TCD) -- A 16-year-old boy entered a guilty plea this week for shooting and killing a pastor during a carjacking in her driveway in 2022.
WREG-TV reports Miguel Andrade pleaded guilty Thursday, Feb. 1, and was sentenced to 20 years in prison for second-degree murder and eight years for carjacking in the death of Dr. Autura Eason-Williams. The terms will run consecutively. Andrade and another suspect, Eduard Rodriguez-Tabora, were initially charged with first-degree murder, especially aggravated robbery, and other counts.
Rodriguez-Tabora is reportedly still awaiting trial.
On July 18, 2022, at 4:10 p.m., Memphis Police Department officers were called to Eason-Williams' house on Whitehaven Lane and found her in her driveway suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers discovered her car crashed and abandoned about four hours later. Video footage reportedly showed two suspects drive up to her house in a hatchback sedan. After the shooting, one of the suspects took off in her car.
Police received a call the same night about a carjacking and learned the suspects approached a second victim in Eason-Williams’ car. Andrade and Rodriguez-Tabora allegedly pointed guns at the second victim and ordered her out of her Chevrolet Malibu. Police located the Malibu and attempted a traffic stop, but the suspects fled. They ultimately wrecked the vehicle and were arrested.
According to WREG, Andrade was wearing a GPS ankle monitor at the time of the killing due to a previous juvenile offense.
Eason-Williams' husband, Darrell Eason-Williams, spoke at the sentencing hearing and told Andrade, "I wish for you to die. I will never forgive you."
He reportedly said he hopes his family "feels the worst pain imaginable with you being locked up," adding, "But it will never measure up to my pain."
Darrell Eason-Williams told the teen, "I have no remorse for you. I wish the worst for you."
