OAKLEY, Calif. (TCD) -- A 35-year-old woman will spend just under a decade in prison after recently pleading guilty to statutory rape of young boys.
The Oakley Police Department first learned about the allegations against Jennifer Decarlo in March 2022, and an investigation was immediately launched.
According to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office, the case initially involved one victim, but upon further investigation, police identified two more victims. Using social media evidence, authorities reportedly learned Decarlo groomed young boys and lured them into her home "for the purpose of committing lewd acts on them."
Police said Decarlo’s victims were between the ages of 13 and 16 years old, and she met them through "family, friends, or acquaintances."
The assaults reportedly occurred between January 2022 and March 2022.
Decarlo was arrested on May 11, 2022, and her bail was set at just over $1 million.
On Feb. 3, the District Attorney’s Office announced that Decarlo pleaded guilty to two counts of lewd acts upon a minor, two counts of statutory rape, and one count of meeting with a minor for lewd purposes. She was reportedly sentenced to seven years and eight months in state prison, and upon her release, she’ll be placed on parole and will have to register as a sex offender for life.
In a statement, Deputy District Attorney Chris Sansoe said, "Given the nature of the charges, there is nothing that can be done to restore the innocence Jennifer Decarlo stole from these boys."
Sansoe continued, "However, we are satisfied knowing that she will serve a significant prison sentence, followed by a requirement that she register as a sex offender for the rest of her life."
