WASHINGTON (TCD) -- Police are searching for three suspects believed to have shot and killed a 15-year-old who was sitting on a porch in the northeast part of the city.
According to the D.C. Police Department, on Thursday, Oct. 13, at 3:40 p.m., officers from the Sixth District responded to the 500 block of 48th Place, NE, for reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they located 15-year-old Andre Robertson Jr. suffering from gunshot wounds.
Robertson was transported to a nearby hospital but pronounced dead after "all lifesaving efforts failed."
Commander Darnel Robinson said in a press briefing three suspects got out of a gold-colored sedan, approached the porch where Robertson was sitting, and opened fire. Robinson believes it could be targeted because other people were on the porch, but the teen was the only one hit by gunfire.
The shooting also reportedly occurred right as a school bus was letting off about 50 children close by.
Robertson Jr.’s father, Andre Robertson, was beaten Oct. 1, 2021, on the 200 block of 53rd Street, NE. D.C. Police said at the time he was taken to a hospital but died from his injuries Oct. 2, 2021. Andre’s cousin, Darius Robertson, was reportedly arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
Robertson Sr., 33, suffered blunt force trauma and his death was ruled a homicide.
Police are offering up to $25,000 as a reward for information related to Robertson Jr.’s death.
