BUTLER COUNTY, Ohio (WXIX) -- A man has been charged after his 7-year-old pit bull dog died after being put into a chokehold, according to Sheriff Richard Jones.
The Butler County Sheriff's Office Dog Warden responded to a report in Hamilton of a male subject who had abused his canine.
The warden found a 7-year-old pit bull named "Karmin" had been put in a chokehold by the suspect for more than three hours, resulting in the dog's death. The sheriff's office said a necropsy showed evidence of strangulation.
The warden was advised the suspect was hearing voices from the television telling him the “dog was evil.”
Justin Lunsford, 29, was arrested for cruelty to a companion animal. The sheriff's office said a necropsy showed evidence of strangulation.
The date of the incident was not specified.
