LOS ANGELES (TCD) -- A 39-year-old man was arrested in connection to a Taco Bell employee who was fatally shot Jan. 8 after his son rejected a fake bill.
The Los Angeles Police Department announced Jonathan Madden was arrested Jan. 10 by officers with the LAPD Gang and Narcotics Division at his home in South Los Angeles.
Two days prior to Madden’s arrest, LAPD officers responded to a shooting call at the Taco Bell on the 9900 block of Avalon Boulevard at approximately 10:55 p.m. Officers located 41-year-old Alejandro Garcia inside the kitchen, where he was pronounced dead by Los Angeles Fire Department officials.
According to KTLA-TV, Garcia and the suspect reportedly got into an argument because Garcia’s son, who was working with him that night, refused to accept a counterfeit $20 bill. Garcia was a father of three and KTLA reports he worked at Taco Bell once a week to earn extra money for his family.
LAPD said in their statement the investigation was presented to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office on Jan. 12 for filing consideration.
