COBB COUNTY, Ga. (TCD) -- A 37-year-old elementary teacher was arrested Friday, Jan. 28, for allegedly placing cameras in the school bathrooms and spying on students.
According to court documents obtained by WAGA-TV, Justin Julian stands accused of placing the cameras in a Blackwell Elementary School bathroom in Cobb County. He reportedly watched two 10-year-old students and one 8-year-old student use the urinal of the restroom.
One of the students alerted a school teacher after finding the camera in the bathroom, WGCL-TV reports. Julian was arrested and charged with three counts of felony eavesdropping-surveillance and one count of first-degree child cruelty. According to WGCL, Julian's bond was set at $15,000.
According to WAGA, a Cobb County School District spokesperson said in a statement, "As soon as the administration discovered the issue, they immediately reported it to police and are fully cooperating with the investigation. The allegations against a school employee are abhorrent, totally unacceptable, and violate our employee code of conduct."
The district's statement continued, "The employee has been arrested, and all applicable laws and district policies will be strongly enforced in every possible way. We ask the community to continue to join us to make sure our schools are safe by reporting any safety concerns to the District’s Tipline via call, text, or email."
