Alabama man accused of severely abusing girlfriend’s 5-year-old child

HARTSELLE, Ala. (TCD) -- Police have arrested a 29-year-old man accused of abusing his live-in girlfriend’s 5-year-old child.
On Monday, May 22, the Hartselle Police Department received a report alleging that Ryan Rezek was abusing the victim. Officers responded to a home where Rezek and his girlfriend were living and spoke with Rezek and the child.
Police believe "the child had been severely beaten," and the victim "sustained serious physical injuries by Rezek."
The child was subsequently transported to a hospital for medical treatment. Officials did not disclose details about the type of physical abuse the victim endured.
Officers arrested Rezek, and he was booked into the Morgan County Jail on a charge of assault –– aggravated child abuse. His bond was set at $10,000.
In a statement, police said, "Child abuse is real and most times it takes someone to notice something and contact the police."
The department continued, "The Hartselle Police Department is very grateful to the caller for bringing this matter to our attention."
