Man arrested on suspicion of murder after missing woman found dead in rural Oregon

JOSEPHINE COUNTY, Ore. (TCD) -- A 35-year-old man is in custody in connection with the death of a missing woman who was found in rural Oregon.
According to a news release from the Oregon State Police, 25-year-old Aleah Aaron of Cave Junction was reported missing March 30 to the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office. Oregon State Police Major Crimes Section led the investigation and later found her deceased in rural Josephine County just outside of Cave Junction.
On April 5, Oregon State Police announced they arrested Thomas Fuertes on suspicion of Aaron’s murder. He was booked into the Josephine County Jail on charges of murder and abuse of a corpse.
According to KOBI-TV, Aaron and the suspect were together in a trailer, and Aaron allegedly tried to grab a gun. The suspect reportedly believed Aaron was going to try to kill herself, and he allegedly stepped in to try to stop her. KOBI reports Aaron was shot two times.
The investigation is ongoing, and police have asked for the public’s help with any information regarding Aaron’s death and disappearance.
