KINGWOOD, W.Va (TCD) -- A 60-year-old man is accused of hiring two people to set fire to his ex-girlfriend's car using a Molotov cocktail.
According to the West Virginia State Fire Marshal, Glenn Casteel was taken into custody Jan. 19 for allegations stemming from incidents in August and April. The Fire Marshal's statement says on April 4, the woman, who remained unnamed, realized the insulation on her phone charger wire was "deliberately stripped back and placed on her bed." The wire could reportedly help start a fire if it got too hot.
In August, Casteel allegedly hired people to "throw a lighted Molotov cocktail at her vehicle while it was parked at her residence."
The Fire Marshal's statement says the agency conducted a 10-month investigation with the West Virginia State Police and Kingwood Police department. Casteel has been charged with criminal use of a destructive or incendiary device, conspiracy to inflict injury to persons or property, accessory before and after the fact, third-degree arson, and fourth-degree arson.
Casteel remains in custody at Tygart Regional Jail with his bail set at $285,000.
