Former Mich. student reportedly threatens to shoot up school in Instagram Live video

WOODHAVEN, Mich. (TCD) -- Police arrested a 20-year-old man accused of threatening on social media to shoot up a local high school.
According to a news release from the Brownstown Police Department, on May 9 at approximately 11 a.m., officers were notified about an Instagram Live video of Kennie Larkins threatening a shooting at Woodhaven High School. Larkins previously attended that school, WDIV-TV reports.
Police said in the video, Larkins is seen "with and without a hood and mask on and appeared to be acting erratically," and then he states, "I can feel it … I am shooting up Woodhaven High School."
During the livestream, Larkins also reportedly threatened an adult and one child.
Officers responded to the school, and the Woodhaven/Brownstown School District enacted a shelter-in-place order pending the investigation.
Larkins was reportedly located with family members, and Van Buren Township Police took him into custody. The shelter-in-place order was subsequently lifted.
On May 18, Brownstown Police arrested Larkins. He was arraigned the next day on one count of false report or threat of terrorism. Larkins’ bond was set at $500,000, and he will have to wear a GPS tether if he is released. Larkins is scheduled to appear in court on May 30.
In a statement, police said, "Threats made against anyone, but especially directed at school staff and students, will be treated seriously and handled quickly. If you witness threats or threatening behavior directed at a school or a school district, please contact your local police department immediately."
