LANCASTER, Calif. (TCD) -- A father was detained Sunday night after his four children and their grandmother were reportedly found dead in their home from gunshot wounds.
According to a press release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to the 3500 block of Garnet Lane in Lancaster at around 10:27 p.m. regarding a "Rescue Responding" call. On the scene, they reportedly found an adult female "suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper torso." Four children — one female and three males — were also found at the scene. The children were all under the age of 12, the Sheriff’s Office said, and paramedics pronounced all five victims dead at the scene.
According to KTLA-TV, family members said the victims were initially found by the children’s mother. The children’s grandmother who was found dead at the scene was reportedly the witness' mother.
The Sheriff’s Office said an adult male believed to be the father was "detained when he arrived at the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station lobby." The investigation remains ongoing, and officials have not yet released names of the victims.
KTLA reports the father, Germarcus David, is being held on $2 million bail.
