TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (TCD) -- A 37-year-old man was sentenced to several centuries in prison after he was convicted of over 20 counts of sex crimes.
The Tulare County District Attorney's Office announced Thursday, Jan. 12, that a judge sentenced Armando Martinez to 612 years to life behind bars for child molestation. In October, he was convicted of six counts of sexual intercourse with a child 10 years of age or younger, one count of oral copulation with a child 10 years of age or younger, 19 counts of forcible lewd act upon a child under the age of 14, four counts of lewd act upon a child under the age of 14, and one count of forcible rape.
Each count also reportedly had additional sentencing stipulations due to "special allegations of substantial sexual conduct and that the crimes were committed against multiple victims."
The District Attorney's Office said 23 instances of sexual abuse occurred with one victim between July 2008 and August 2018 starting when the victim was 4 years old. It reportedly ended when she was 14. The other eight counts reportedly referred to sexual assaults between February 2017 and August 2018 with a different victim who was 7 years old when the abuse began.
Martinez must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
