CHARLOTTE, N.C. (TCD) -- A 29-year-old mother was arrested during a traffic stop in Irvington, New York, in connection with the drowning death of her 2-year-old son.
According to WBTV-TV, on March 12, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers responded to Park Road Park after a woman, Natalie Suero, told an off-duty officer that her child was in a pond, unresponsive. Authorities reportedly found the child, Jonathan Suero, and performed CPR. The child was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead.
During an interview, the child’s mother was unable to provide a timeline of the incident and made "vague and inconsistent statements," WBTV reports. Authorities reportedly issued a murder warrant for Suero on May 26.
According to the Yonkers Times, on May 28, Suero was pulled over by Irvington Police in New York for running a red light on South Broadway, Route 9. Upon checking her license, police reportedly learned she was wanted for first-degree murder.
Suero was arrested without incident and booked into the Westchester County Department of Corrections, awaiting extradition back to North Carolina, the Yonkers Times reports.
