MEMPHIS, Tenn. (TCD) -- A 65-year-old woman was arrested this week after she allegedly stabbed and killed her daughter and left her body on the street.
According to the affidavit, on June 26, Memphis Police Department officers went to 2527 Keen Road and found an unresponsive woman in the driveway "covered in blood suffering from multiple stab wounds." There was reportedly a trail of blood from the carport leading to the street.
Memphis Fire Department paramedics pronounced the victim, Conju Garrett, dead at 12:22 a.m.
Memphis Police reportedly spoke with Conju's mother, Carolyn Garrett, who allegedly said she "killed an alien who was trying to take her children."
Garrett's son reportedly told police that she told him she "killed the devil."
Police arrested Garrett and while speaking with investigators, she allegedly said she "heard some voices coming from the wall telling her to kill her daughter."
Garrett allegedly retrieved a knife from the kitchen and "started cutting Conju Garrett on the back of her neck and back area." Then, she reportedly dragged her to the street and left her on the curb. Garrett cleaned up the blood inside the home and left the towels and sheets she used outside.
WREG-TV reports Conju Garrett lived with a disability and could not walk.
Garrett was booked into the Shelby County Jail on a charge of first-degree murder and is being held on $500,000 bond.
