WEST JORDAN, Utah (KSTU) -- A married couple was killed Saturday morning in a shooting, while three children younger than 4 were unharmed at the West Jordan home.
West Jordan Police say they have leads, but no suspect in the murders of Tony and Katherine Butterfield.
Tony and Katherine's three children, all of whom are under the age of 4 years old, the youngest just 6 months old, are now with family members.
West Jordan Police were dispatched to a home near 3200 West and 6900 South just after 1 a.m. on Saturday, where they found Tony and Katherine Butterfield, ages 31 and 30, deceased.
Police also believe the suspect or suspects may have been injured in the altercation — possibly a stab wound — and are asking the public to contact them if someone they know has a suspicious wound possibly matching the description.
Police said Tony Butterfield was found shot dead out in the back yard, and Katherine Butterfield was found shot inside the home. West Jordan Police Spokesman Sgt. J.C. Holt told The Salt Lake Tribune it appeared the suspect had rummaged through the home, but police are unsure of what may have been taken.
