MEMPHIS, Tenn. (TCD) -- A 35-year-old man was arrested for allegedly threatening his ex-girlfriend and strangling her young son.
According to WREG-TV, which cites court records, on March 26, Octavious Rodgers reportedly went to the victim’s home to collect personal belongings he had left there. The victim, who remained unnamed, claimed Rodgers threatened her 8-year-old son and said he would kill them both. Court documents say the boy picked up a knife in self-defense, but Rodgers allegedly grabbed the knife out of his hand and choked the boy.
Two days later on March 28, Memphis Police reportedly went to the victim’s home because Rodgers allegedly showed up and threatened to kill her. WHBQ-TV, citing court records, reports Rodgers allegedly went to the victim’s aunt’s home and shot at two parked cars with an AK-47. WREG reports Rodgers caused over $2,000 in damage to the vehicles.
According to WREG, on April 2, the victim was near her home with a police escort on her way pick up some items, but she was afraid Rodgers would shoot her. Rodgers was allegedly at her house already and fired an AK-47 into the home. That same day, Rodgers allegedly shot at the victim’s uncle and struck him in the leg.
Shelby County Jail records show Rodgers was booked on several charges, including three counts of aggravated assault, attempted second-degree murder, and child abuse and neglect.
