AURORA, Colo. (TCD) --
A woman was arrested for allegedly shooting a man in a parking lot dispute over an unpaid restaurant bill.
Aurora Police officers responded to multiple 911 calls from the Mariscos El Rey 2 restaurant on E. Iliff Avenue at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, reporting a shooting.
An 18-year-old man with a gunshot wound at the scene was hospitalized, where he was later pronounced dead.
Aurora Police announced 28-year-old Jacqueline De Paz was later arrested during a traffic stop and charged with second-degree murder. She was held at the Aurora Detention Center on $1 million bond.
KDVR-TV reports police paperwork includes claims the victim was trying to stop a group from "dining and dashing." Several witnesses say Jacqueline De Paz was with a large group of people who were seated outside at the restaurant, according to KDVR.
After the group complained their food was cold, witnesses say, the group got up and left, followed by the waitress who threatened to call police, the shooting victim and a group of other patrons trying to stop them, KDVR reports. A fight broke out and De Paz allegedly pulled out a gun, and witnesses told police the victim tried to stop De Paz and take the gun away from her when one shot was fired.
It was unclear if the victim was a patron or was an employee of the restaurant.
