Oklahoma couple's bodies found on roadside; cousin in custody

TULSA, Okla. (TCD) --

Deputies fin Tulsa arrested a suspect after a man and a woman's bodies were found on the side of the road in another county.

The Tulsa County Sheriffs' Office announced Monday they took 32-year-old Wesley Pavey, who goes by the name Brock, into custody and charged him with two counts of first-degree murder. Kraig and Sheri Chambers' bodies were discovered near Vera, Oklahoma, in Washington County, the Sheriff's Office said.

The day before Kraig and Sheri were found, the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office shared on social media that they were looking for information regarding Pavey's whereabouts. The Sheriff's Office said he was wanted for questioning about the couple's disappearance. Kraig and Sheri were reported missing May 29.

Pavey was Kraig's cousin.

According to the Sheriff's Office, they found evidence that led them to believe that the couple might be "in danger."

Tulsa County Sheriff's Office Communications Director Casey Roebuck told the Bartlesville Examiner-Enterprise, "We went out and found physical evidence in the home that led us to believe the couple had possibly met with foul play."

According to KJRH-TV, Roebuck said, "Sounds like the family members were estranged and that perhaps the Chambers weren’t happy when the cousin showed up at their house on Saturday. Some sort of altercation ensued.'

The Examiner-Enterprise reports officers from the Oklahoma City Police Department found him and then transferred him to Tulsa. Pavey reportedly admitted to shooting Kraig and Sheri and led investigators to their bodies.

On Monday, the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office posted a video of Pavey walking in handcuffs and being escorted by deputies into a sheriff's car.

He was booked into the Tulsa County Jail and was being held without bond.
