Letecia Stauch declared competent to stand trial for Gannon Stauch murder; defense attorneys get second evaluation they requested

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KDVR) -- Letecia Stauch, accused of killing her 11-year-old stepson Gannon Stauch, has been found competent to stand trial.
A judge in El Paso County agreed to a second competency evaluation during a court hearing on Tuesday. The Denver Post reports Letecia Stauch will undergo a second mental health evaluation at the request of her attorneys, after a similar test by state experts just found her competent to stand trial on murder, abuse and tampering charges.
Stauch will next appear in El Paso County District Court on Nov. 12, where a judge is expected to review the results of the second exam, the Post reports.

In January, Letecia Stauch said she last saw 11-year-old Gannon heading to a friend's home in their suburban El Paso County, Colorado neighborhood.
She was arrested for Gannon's murder in South Carolina later that month and was extradited to Colorado. During that extradition, Stauch attacked a guard inside the vehicle in which she was transported, hospitalizing the man. Also in March, remains found near Pensacola, Florida were officially confirmed as Gannon's.
In June, Stauch allegedly sent letters to another inmate with detailed plans of her plot to escape the El Paso County jail.
Letecia Stauch's arrest affidavit alleges she killed Gannon in his bedroom in Colorado on Jan. 27. She allegedly dumped the boy's body in a rural area of Douglas County, Colorado the next night. Stauch is charged with first-degree murder, child abuse resulting in death, tampering with a deceased human body and tampering with physical evidence.
