CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (TCD) -- A father whose son’s remains were found in a freezer in the family home in May was charged with murder months after his initial arrest.
According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Kassceen Weaver was charged with felony murder, aggravated malicious wounding, and felony child neglect in the death of his son Eliel Adon Weaver.
Kassceen Weaver and his wife, Dina Weaver, were first charged in June with conspiracy to conceal a body and failure to render aid to a child. Additionally, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Kassceen Weaver was charged with concealment of a body, domestic assault, and malicious wounding of an adult female known to him.
Both Kassceen and Dina Weaver were later released on bond.
WRIC-TV reports Chesterfield County Police obtained a search warrant May 4 after getting a call about a child’s body at the residence on 6425 Lookout Point Circle. Investigators reportedly discovered human remains in the freezer, and they were later identified as Eliel, who goes by Adon. He was less than 5 years old at the time of his death, according to WRIC.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports Eliel’s cause of death remains under investigation.
Dina Weaver’s brother reportedly called Chesterfield Police and informed them he believed his sister was involved in a "domestic violence situation," according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch. WRIC reports police obtained a search warrant and began investigating the Weavers.
According to WRIC, new details emerged regarding how Eliel’s body was found in the freezer. Police reportedly said in court his body was wrapped in adult clothing, twine, and a sheet, and was placed in a bag. The bag was reportedly stored in a plastic container, WRIC reports.
Court records show Kassceen Weaver’s next court date is scheduled for Nov. 30.
