Va. man accused of fatally stabbing 2 family members and carving 'X' on one of their backs

MATHEWS COUNTY, Va. (TCD) -- A 24-year-old man stands accused of fatally stabbing two of his family members.
According to a news release from the Mathews County Sheriff’s Office, on June 8, an investigation was launched after three missing people, Adam, Melissa, and Jonathan Moore, had not been seen since Monday, June 6. Deputies reportedly responded to their home on the 400 block of Whites Point Lane and found the bodies of Melissa and Adam Moore in the master bedroom.
Both victims had suffered multiple stab wounds, and according to WVEC-TV, Adam had the letter 'X' carved into his back. The initials 'JT' and an 'M' were allegedly smeared in blood on the wall outside of the bedroom.
Upon further investigation, the Sheriff’s Office obtained charging warrants for Jonathan Moore on two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of using a knife in the commission of a felony.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Jonathan Moore’s car was located in Lynchburg, Virginia, on June 9. Authorities responded to the city and reportedly arrested him. He remains held in the Blue Ridge Regional Jail without bond.
