EDWARDS, Mo. (TCD) -- A 19-year-old male allegedly fatally shot a family member and injured another inside a camper.
On Sunday, Feb. 19, at approximately 11 p.m., the Camden County Sheriff's Office received a call and heard someone say, "Put the gun down. Alex, put the gun down," followed by fighting.
The call was reportedly disconnected, but communications officers were able to confirm the location near State Road FF and Pine Cove Road.
According to the Sheriff's Office, deputies and medical personnel responded to the location and found 56-year-old Eric Cantrell on the living room floor with an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another victim, a female, was reportedly transported to a hospital via helicopter for a gunshot wound.
The Sheriff's Office said a family member of both victims, Alexander Cantrell-King, told investigators he "heard a gunshot go off inside the camper."
Cantrell-King reportedly said he saw the female victim "holding a 30-30 rifle" and Eric Cantrell was on the floor.
According to the Sheriff's Office, Cantrell-King claimed he "wrestled the rifle away" from the female victim before it "accidentally went off shooting the female."
However, en route to the hospital, the female victim reportedly said Cantrell-King was the shooter. The Sheriff's Office said, "Evidence on scene supported her claim and disproved Cantrell-King's version of events."
Cantrell-King was reportedly arrested and booked into the Camden County Adult Detention Facility for first-degree murder, first-degree domestic assault, and armed criminal action. He remains held without bond.
