1 arrested, 'multiple suspects at large' following fatal shooting at Utah wedding party

MIDVALE, Utah (TCD) -- A 22-year-old man was arrested in connection to a shooting at a wedding party that left the bride’s son dead.
According to KSL-TV, Unified Police Department officers responded to a shooting at 145 E. Fort Union Blvd. at approximately 11:26 p.m. on Nov. 6. Officers discovered 28-year-old Oscar Avila on the ground bleeding at the scene. Law enforcement officers and wedding guests attempted lifesaving measured on Avila, but Unified Authority Fire pronounced him dead.
Police declared Avila’s death a homicide.
KSL reports Daniel Garcia was taken into custody on charges of obstruction of justice and rioting. Police are reportedly expecting additional arrests.
According to KSL, which cites the arrest affidavit, three people arrived at the Fort Union Boulevard location unannounced and were "causing trouble." As the guests were being led out of the venue, a fight reportedly ensued. A fourth person allegedly reignited the fight outside and one of the people being escorted out allegedly took out a gun.
One of the men allegedly pointed a gun at Avila’s mother, who was the bride that evening. He then shot Avila, who was reportedly already on the ground. According to The Salt Lake Tribune, witnesses heard two gunshots. Avila suffered a gunshot wound to the chest.
Unified Police reportedly believe the shooting was gang-related.
According to the affidavit cited by KSL, "During the search of Garcia’s bedroom, a pistol was located hidden in his bedroom closet."
KSTU-TV reports Garcia denied being at the wedding despite surveillance footage allegedly showing him at the scene. The Salt Lake Tribune reports police said Garcia played an "active part" in the fight.
According to KSL, Police said there are "multiple suspects at large" and witnesses who "fear for their safety."
