WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ore. (TCD) -- A 31-year-old woman will spend just under six years in prison for stealing from a Nordstrom store and biting off a security guard’s ear.
According to a news release from the Washington County District Attorney’s Office, on July 22, 2022, Ashlie Ruth Clark stole over $800 worth of merchandise from the Nordstrom at the Washington Square Mall, and as she was leaving, "loss prevention officers confronted her with the theft."
The District Attorney’s Office said she "physically resisted" and "yelled obscene comments as they attempted to recover the stolen items."
As they were struggling, Clark reportedly bit one of the security guards on the ear, "removing at least a half inch of the victim’s earlobe."
According to the District Attorney’s Office, Clark, who had two outstanding warrants for her arrest, gave officials a false name and date of birth. She was booked into the Washington County Jail for second-degree assault, first degree robbery, and two holds for reckless driving and larceny.
On Friday, March 24, Clark pleaded guilty to the second-degree assault and first-degree robbery charges and was sentenced to 70 months in prison, followed by three years of supervision.
The District Attorney’s Office said that after the assault, the victim was transported to the hospital, and "her earlobe could not be surgically reattached."
